As Sweet As True

With all the love stories out there, it's sometimes difficult to find one that can really touch your heart. When I was given "About A Girl", the novel was quite confusing at the beginning. It's not the happy ending-kind of story, but it's still one of the warmest and sweetest love stories I've ever read.

Fiction: Fade To Black

Fade To Black
Chapter One

Ramon Montague, June 2000

The pink confetti spread across the orange carpet was heart-shaped and those two colors looked hideous together, but at least they had her favorite color on the carpet. I tried to deny the fact that she looked beautiful, because I didn’t feel comfortable just thinking about how beautiful this girl was, but I couldn’t help but admit to myself that, indeed, she was beautiful. Each of her steps towards her family was shaky and that couldn’t be blamed on the heels as she had to be used to walking on heels by now.

An Internet World

It's with us twentyfour-seven: the internet - to research things for class, to chat with friends, to check the news. But isn't this imaginary world taking over? I came across the novel "Awaken" by Katie Kacwinzky randomly but as I read it, the conflict she describes really got me.

Music: Beauty Queen In Tears

Beauty Queen In Tears

Have you already noticed the small letters on the header of issue one’s layout? “Baby be the class clown, I’ll be the beauty queen in tears,” it says. Have you ever thought about these words? I have. So, what does it mean to you? It reminds me of a scene from a Disney movie, just that in my memory it looks a lot darker than it probably actually was. A school’s gymnasium, empty, the lights off, the windows open. The banners to support the previously playing football team are still there, lying on the tribune, fluttering in the wind. The walls are coming down, a teenager’s life without all the glamour. Or would you rather be the beauty queen in tears?

Fiction: The Marked Letters I

The Marked Letters
Chapter One

Dear Liam;

Don’t think I wanted to write you, because I didn’t. I really, really didn’t mean to write you considering the circumstances, but both of us know it will be necessary sooner or later anyway. There are things that are about more important things than... us. I made a promise to myself that I won’t write a second version of this letter in case the first one goes wrong and I’m neither going to cross out anything. Once, we promised ourselves to be honest to each other, didn’t we? Well, let’s just pretend that things hadn’t change ever since.

Books: Kid Agents

Have you ever pretended you were an agent when you were a child? I came across a book series about kid agents that's a little different and more serious than a lot of the stuff you find in Hollywood movies. Still I love it and even though I was much younger when I found the series, I still like to read it. Take a look at Robert Muchamore's Cherub!

Workout: Work That Balance

Work That Balance
Working out can be two words that cause one to feel either super happy and satisfied or simply bored and angry. It's becoming colder, we're spending less time outside and the season will come when we will just love to snuggle up to our pillow a little longer than usually and stay in bed or... What about some good work out to stay fit during the cold month?

Books: Fighting Insomnia Autumn

Fighting Insomnia Autumn
Autumn is on the way and with it long and dark nights, lying awake in bed, getting up again to get a good book and spending the night reading. It's the season of tea, cacao and blankets in order to snuggle up to your pillow.
